The fourth season of NCIS: Los Angeles premiered on September 25, 2012 on CBS. The episodes, "Red Part One" and "Red Part Two" were intended to be a backdoor pilot for an upcoming series associated with the NCIS franchise titled NCIS: Red. However, CBS later announced that they had passed on the project, making NCIS: Red the only backdoor episodes not to have been given a full series.
